Blackberry & Pear Crumble Smoothie & Smoothie Bowl

October 14, 2017

Have I told you how much I love this time of year? I probably have but I feel like I should tell you again because I really do love it. Autumn or Fall depending on where you come from is phenomenal for so many reasons, way too many to list. One of those reasons that's relevant for this post is the seasonal produce these glorious months bring. Delicious foods such as pumpkins, venison, blackberries & pears.

Another reason I love Autumn is the recollection of cherished childhood memories such as the aroma of freshly baked apple pies and blackberry crumbles made by my grandma using blackberries freshly picked by my sister and I.

When I created this smoothie, I didn't expect it to taste like a crumble, it was a very pleasant surprise. This recipe is all of the taste and delight that is a freshly baked crumble but in the healthy and easy version that is a smoothie. Trust me, you're going to love this.

Serves: 2

  • 80g frozen blackberries

  • 80g frozen conference pears (chop pears into large chunks and freeze)

  • 80g frozen courgettes/zucchini

  • Two scoops of vanilla protein powder

  • 1/4 of a frozen avocado

  • One cup of cashew milk

  • One cup of filtered water - see optional below

  • Sprinkle of granola to create a crumble finish

  • One cup of filtered water - add the extra cup to make this into a smoothie rather than a smoothie bowl

  • Handful of frozen spinach

  1. Place all ingredients except the granola into a high speed blender and blend until smooth.

  2. Pour into bowls or glasses and sprinkle with some crunchy granola.
